In this project, research activities will be carried out by the Health & Biomedicine (H&B) department. In particular, the H&B department is divided into 3 areas of knowledge: Drug Discovery & Development (DRUG), Regenerative Medicine (REGMED) and Antibodies (MABS).

The Regenerative Medicine (REGMED) Area specializes in performing preclinical in vitro and in vivo studies for the study of musculoskeletal and osteoarticular pathologies. REGMED expertise includes extensive experience in animal model studies that reproduce human skeletal muscle and joint pathologies, both in small (mice and rats) and large (rabbits, pigs, and sheep) animal models. Preclinical studies allow to reproduce the tissue pathologies of the musculoskeletal and osteoarticular systems (muscle, tendon, ligament, bone, articular cartilage, and meniscus) observed in human clinical practice, and for the development of new therapeutic strategies for their treatment. Preclinical studies permit the evaluation of cell transplantation or 3D bioimplants treatments for tissue regeneration by monitoring treatment efficacy using advanced clinical imaging technologies (ultrasound, MRI, CT, PET/CT) and evaluating histological outcomes (anatomopathological, histology and immunohistochemistry). Preclinical in vivo validation of therapeutic efficacy promotes the translation of innovative treatments into clinical practice.
