The University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (UMC-MAINZ) is the only medical institution of supramaximal care in Rhineland-Palatinate and an internationally recognized science location. Our more than 60 hospitals, institutes and departments represent the entire spectrum of modern medicine. Optimal patient care based on state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and latest research know-how is our aim. The guideline of our actions is in the principle “Our knowledge for your health”. UMC-Mainz operates almost 1,500 hospital beds and treats around 69,000 patients every year. Approximately 280,000 additional patients are treated every year on an outpatient basis.

UMC-MAINZ is also a teaching and research hospital with research units in almost every clinic and institute. All of the clinics and institutes work together on an interdisciplinary basis to ensure that patients receive the highest quality of care and that the students and researchers are augmenting scientific and educational development.
